Grades of Granite: Demystified
1. What are these “grades” of granite I keep hearing about?
Granite comes in A, B, C, D and Exotic. “A” grade granite is the least expensive and exotic would obviously be the most expensive.
2. What is the price difference of each stone?
The price difference between the grades can be as simple as how easy it is to remove from the earth, how easy the stone is to transport from the mine, how difficult it is to fabricate or how plentiful the stone actually is. Each of these factors actually helps to determine the price of each slab.
3. How do I know the difference in price of “A” grade to “C” or “D” grade?
We will always begin our estimates with “A” grade slabs, unless you tell us that you’ve already chosen a higher grade slab. At times, the whole job cost could be just a couple hundred dollars to upgrade your stone as we are able to procure some of the higher grade stones at a discount and pass that on to our customers.
**Remember our goal is for our customers to be happy and have a great experience! Choose the stone you love and you will get many years of enjoyment out of your counters.
